New 3rd Edition of Scoring and Arranging for Brass Band available now 〰️

The new 3rd edition of Scoring and Arranging for Brass Band by Andrew Duncan is now available.

The original book was written in 2005 and the new edition has been comprehensively edited and adapted to be more user friendly and it also includes coloured images.

This new edition has a greatly expanded section showing the progression of an arrangement of the hymn Aurelia. Firstly, there is a step-by-step guide which shows those new to arranging for brass band how to make a simple four-part arrangement of the hymn.

There is a new chapter which details how to progress the arrangement to an advanced transcription arrangement, by adding percussion, counterpoint and other details.

A second additional chapter explains how the hymn can be arranged as an entirely new composition arrangement with each compositional device shown and discussed.

Each of the Aurelia arrangements also have sound files on YouTube, with links and QR codes to these provided in the new book.

Hymne A L’Amour Arrangement for Brass Band by Andrew Duncan will be published by Musikverlag Frank from February 2026 and will also be available to order from Duncan Music Press.

This much requested arrangement of Hymne A L’Amour for Brass Band by Andrew Duncan was played by The Cooperation band as the finale of their winning Brass in Concert 2025 performance and it was an audience favourite. Composed by Marguerite Monnot this timeless melody has been embraced by many musicians worldwide. The lyrics written and originally sung by Edit Piaf are very moving and powerful. In recent years the song was sung by Josh Groban and more recently performed by Celine Dion at the Paris Olympics in 2024. The Cooperative Band’s performance of this arrangement can be streamed on World of Brass Play and it has been widely shared on social media. This arrangement for brass band is no longer available from Sheet Music Direct.
